With grace, understanding, and support, I seek to help clients understand how their past has shaped them, discover how ensnaring behaviors began (and continue) and then to restore dignity, well-being, and relationships.

My goal is to work with clients to heal from past wounds, address issues of personal faith, explore and address thoughts and emotions, and move forward to a hopeful and fulfilled future. And, of course, to offer a little humor along the way.

Charlotte Uteg Haning

MA, LCPC

I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, adults, and families become the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves. I focus on fostering strong, trusting relationships by providing a therapeutic space that is safe, supportive, and free from judgement. I believe in working collaboratively with individuals and families in order to help create a path for realistic and lasting change.

My approach to treatment varies based on the unique needs of the individuals and families I work with. I practice from a strength-based perspective and meet clients where they are with understanding and empathy. I enjoy engaging children through play, movement, and creative activities.

I have experience working with a range of issues and disorders including attachment difficulties, behavioral challenges, ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, and general life stress. I welcome and support those that identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. I often incorporate social/communication skill development, psychoeducation, and parent coaching into my work with families. I am in the process of becoming Level I and II certified in EMDR.

I received a Master of Arts from Bradley University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. Prior to working in private practice, I provided community-based counseling services with children and adults involved in the child welfare system. I have also worked with children and families coping with a range of emotional and physical disabilities. Additionally, I supervised a team of clinicians working with families in the community. Personally, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, trying new recipes, and playing tennis when the weather allows.

My goal as a counselor is to build a partnership with my clients to create a safe space to process through their hardships and struggles. My intention is to help clients find a path they are comfortable with and feel empowered moving forward with their lives.

Graduating from University of Illinois Springfield with my Master’s Degree in Human Development Counseling, I have roughly 10 years of clinical experience. I am certified in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. With this specialized training, I focus on infertility, all stages of pregnancy, postpartum anxiety, and depression, as well as pregnancy and infant loss.

I am experienced in a variety of settings, including communities, schools, and the primary care setting. I have worked side by side with clients to navigate anxiety, depression, ADHD management techniques, creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, as well as grief and loss. Working with clients of all ages and families, I utilize many different evidence-based techniques, including play and sand tray therapies for children and adolescents, writing and journaling techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as motivational interviewing. I am trained in EMDR and am trauma informed.

Tara Wellenreiter

MA, LCPC

I love working with children, families, and adults to provide a supportive and safe environment where problems can be explored, and healing can be achieved. I use relationship-based intervention to meet clients where they are and partner together to explore barriers and create solutions to life’s challenges. I also use an attachment-based, trauma-informed lens to look at challenges in the context of a client’s life, relationships, and family of origin.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. I have experience working in community, school, and private practice settings. My clinical work has focused on trauma and attachment, especially of infancy and early childhood. I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, parenting issues, ADHD, postpartum issues, mood disorders, and attachment disorders.

I am a nature lover, mother of two, musician, and reading enthusiast. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, traveling, or snuggled up with a good book.
